Role: Project Manager

Vanguard is an international, specialised heavy lift installation company, with a focus on providing our clients with complete installation solutions, across a multitude of service offerings. From the initial inception of a project, our involvement includes the management of every individual stage of the process, ensuring the provision of a complete solution and peace of mind to every client we work with.

As we continue to grow we are now on the lookout for project managers, who share our enthusiasm for heavy engineering and problem solving, across a challenging and rewarding industry. As a Vanguard project manager, we will work with you to build your knowledge and technical ability across our range of specialist services. Within this client facing role, you will then have responsibility for the successful delivery of a wide range of projects, managing all aspects of cost, time and quality, whilst overcoming our clients heavy lift and transportation challenges.

Unlike more traditional project management roles, we are looking for individuals who thrive in challenging operational environments, to come and join our team. We understand our industry and appreciate the value of having team members who can lead from the front and take initiative. Therefore, within the role you will have the opportunity to gets hands on and be expected to have a presence on site during key stages of project delivery.

Although based out of Cleveland, South Africa, Vanguard’s project team operates on a much wider scale, with the business delivering projects internationally on a regular basis. As a project manager you will have the opportunity for international travel as part of the role and be expected to support clients and their projects globally.


Key Role Responsibilities

Responsibilities for the role include but are not confined to the following:

  • Taking on all client facing management and responsibilities for each of your projects.
  • Managing all aspects of cost, time and quality for each of your assigned projects.
  • Establishing and managing clear and regular communication both internally and externally.
  • Ensuring projects deliverables are achieved on time.
  • Managing scope change, through the appropriate procedures.
  • Acting as a point of contact for project related matters.
  • Supporting other departments in achieving relevant project related goals.
  • Implementing, recording and communicating lessons learned (both internally and externally).
  • Supporting continuous improvement.
  • Attending site visits and meetings (ensuring project management presence on site during key stages of project delivery).
  • Ensuring all HSQE aspects of project delivery are recorded and reported.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Mandatory:

  • 2 years’ experience in a relevant industry.
  • Knowledge and experience of project management skills and responsibilities.
  • Current and valid driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Project management qualifications.
  • Engineering background/understanding.
  • Current and valid passport, with no restrictions.
  • HSQE qualifications.

Role: Diesel Mechanic
Based: Cleveland, South Africa

Overview

Vanguard is an international, specialised heavy lift installation company, with a focus on providing our clients with complete installation solutions, across a multitude of service offerings. From the initial inception of a project, our involvement includes the management of every individual stage of the process, ensuring the provision of a complete solution and peace of mind to every client we work with.

As we still continue to grow we are now on the lookout for a knowledgeable and experienced diesel mechanic, to join our team and support our extensive fleet of equipment. Candidates will ideally have a background as a diesel / aero nautical mechanic or extensive experience within a similar role. Due to the nature of our equipment, candidates will also be required to already possess a thorough understanding and working knowledge of hydraulics. However, we will work with you to build your knowledge and technical ability, across our range of specialist services.

As the role progresses, you will then take on responsibility for the day to day maintenance and repairs of trucks, trailers, conventional axles, SPMT’s, pick and carry cranes, crawler cranes, hydraulic engines, jacking systems, skidding systems etc. Undertaking all aspects of the maintenance process, such as planning, servicing, fault finding, ordering parts, liaising with manufacturers and suppliers and managing records.

We understand our industry and we are looking for individuals who can thrive in challenging operational environments and who can take initiative and help drive the business forward. Therefore, within the role you will have exposure to exciting and challenging opportunities that other mechanical roles traditionally do not offer.

Although based out of Cleveland, South Africa, Vanguard’s fleet and team operate on a much wider scale, with the business delivering projects both nationally and internationally on a regular basis. As a mechanic you may also have the opportunity for international travel as part of the role and be expected to support projects where required.


Key Role Responsibilities

Responsibilities for the role include but are not confined to the following:

  • Planning / scheduling equipment maintenance.
  • Fault finding and repairs.
  • Arranging stock parts.
  • Liaising with manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Maintaining records and maintaining tracking software.
  • Supporting office activities (scheduling transportation, supporting equipment schedules).
  • Equipment servicing.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Mandatory:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge and experience of hydraulics, air lines and piping.
  • Current and valid driving licence.


Desirable:

  • Conventional trailer and SPMT experience (maintenance / operation).
  • Forklift / telehandler licence.
  • Crane licence.
  • Current and valid passport, with no restrictions.
  • HSQE qualifications.
  • Fabrication experience/qualifications.
  • Equipment inspection qualifications.
